About Pakhamon MUCH Hemachandra

 

 

Thai performer and independent dance artist, Pakhamon Hemachandra, was born in 1990 in Bangkok, Thailand. Professionally trained at Victorian College of The Arts (Melbourne, Australia) and attained BA in Dance in 2011. Join EDge Postgraduated Dance Company of London Contemporary Dance School – LCDS (London, UK), toured nationally and internationally for their 2012/2013 season. Completed her MA in Contemporary Dance Performance at LCDS in 2014. Whilst she was in Australia and United Kingdom, she has studied, worked and performed works with/by many renowned choreographers and artists; Stephanie Lake, Robin Fox, Rebecca Hilton, Phillip Adams (Balletlab), Anna Smith, Hofesh Shechter, Sita Ostheimer, Helena Franzén, Tim Rushton, Matthew Robinson, and more. After finishing her studies, she has moved back to Thailand and has been working on number of projects across Asia, both solo works as well working/collaborating with artists including Ahn Ae Soon (Ahn Ae Soon Dance Company), Hwang Soo Hyun, Dr. Sun Tawalwongsri (Sun Dance Theatre), Aditep Buanoi, Hosik Yu (Designare Movement/NDA Festival), Changho Han (On&Off Dance Company), Yoko Koike (Saitama City Ballet) and Kwangmin Kim (Seed Dance Project).

 

In 2015, Pakhamon has created her first solo work (10- min), “INMOST”, was premiered at M1 Open Stage 2015 as part of M1 Contact Contemporary Dance Festival in Singapore and won Masdanza Award to participate in a Solo Contest in MASDANZA (Gran Canaria, Spain) in 2016. This solo has traveled and performed in many platforms including 21MASDANZA (Spain), East Meets West 2016 (Thailand), WDA 2016 (South Korea), and Fanglao Blackbox 2017 (Laos). In 2016, the Artistic Director of NDA, Hosik Yu, personally asked her to create a longer solo, “Love Thy(ตาย)self”, (16-min) for New Dance For Asia Festival 2017 (Seoul, South Korea and from the festival, “Love Thy(ตาย)self” got selected for Fukuoka Dance Fringe Festival to perform in Fukuoka, Japan in February 2018. The work also got invited to perform at Daegu International Dance Festival 2017 in Daegu, South Korea. Moreover, Pakhamon has recently started teaching at Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University (Theatre and Performing Arts Department), Bangkok-Thailand as a Guest Lecturer in Dance.

 

Whilst traveling/working internationally and nationally, Pakhamon has taught as well as participated in many workshops/intensives/projects in order to immersed herself eclectically in dance. Pakhamon is very much interested in working with the body, the very tool that are expressing the emotions in an instinctive way and from an instinctive place. Involving imagery, physicality and the whole self in finding the innate musicality and movements.
